Notice Regarding Excessive Rainfall Event on November 1, 2026 Northern is experiencing a significant and unanticipated extreme rainfall event that began on Friday October 30th, continuing throughout the weekend and currently ongoing. Northern's Operations Staff has been working around the clock to monitor, operate and respond at all hours to issues created by this event. Northern's operational capabilities include multiple pumping stations and operable gates all of which are being pushed to the limit during this event. Control gates were opened in accordance with the SFWMD Permit guidelines as well as stormwater pumping stations pumping stormwater to outfalls. The system is working as designed and intended; however, most receiving bodies are at or near capacity and it will take time for the water to recede. We continue to work around the clock throughout this event and will provide additional updates as needed.
